  • If you carve a jack-o’-lantern and put it in your window, it will ward off evil spirits. This superstition is said to have originated in Ireland.
  • If you burn sage in your home on Halloween, it will cleanse your home of negative energy. This superstition is said to have originated in Native American cultures.
  • If you dress up as a ghost on Halloween, you will attract real ghosts. This superstition is said to have originated in Europe.
  • If you hear a witch’s cackle on Halloween, it means that she is flying by. This superstition is said to have originated in Scotland.
  • If you walk backwards through a graveyard on Halloween, you will see the ghosts of the people who are buried there. This superstition is said to have originated in the United States.
  • If you put a sprig of rosemary under your pillow on Halloween, you will dream of your future husband or wife. This superstition is said to have originated in England.
